Role Description The Access Control Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Miami–Fort Lauderdale area. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining electronic access control systems, including card readers, door controllers, and related physical security hardware. Daily tasks include performing site surveys, running and terminating low-voltage cabling, testing systems, troubleshooting issues, and documenting configurations and changes. The specialist will collaborate with project managers, technicians, and client representatives to plan installations, ensure system functionality, and meet project timelines and quality standards. The role also involves performing regular system checks, applying security best practices, and providing end-user guidance on access control procedures and system use.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Cybersecurity and Information Security principles to ensure secure configuration and management of access control systems.
- Hands-on experience with Physical Security technologies, including access control hardware, security panels, and related low-voltage systems.
- Knowledge of Network Security concepts and practices related to IP-based access control, firewalls, VLANs, and secure remote access.
- Effective Communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams, and to create clear documentation and reports.
- Experience with low-voltage cabling, basic networking, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues in the field.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, floor plans, and wiring schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team in on-site environments.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical certifications (e.g., security systems, networking, or manufacturer-specific access control platforms) are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites within the Miami–Fort Lauderdale area as needed.
