Role Description The Asset Protection Investigator is a full-time, on-site role based in Newport Beach, CA, responsible for protecting company assets, customers, and team members through proactive loss prevention and investigation activities. This role conducts investigations into theft, fraud, and organized retail crime, including apprehending or partnering on the apprehension of individuals involved in such activities in accordance with company policies and local laws. The Investigator monitors and reviews CCTV and other security systems to identify suspicious activity, document incidents, and support case development. Daily responsibilities include partnering closely with store leadership and sales teams to implement loss prevention strategies, performing audits and compliance checks, and maintaining accurate reports and evidence. The role also supports a safe and welcoming environment by delivering excellent customer service, assisting with emergency response procedures, and reinforcing safety and security protocols throughout the store.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with customers, team members, and external partners.
- Experience in retail loss prevention and organized retail crime prevention, including conducting investigations and supporting case resolution.
- Proficiency with Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and related security or surveillance systems to monitor, review, and document activity.
- Knowledge of asset protection best practices, retail operations, and basic safety and security procedures.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and make quick decisions in high-stress or emergency situations.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Capacity to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
- Prior experience in retail, law enforcement, security, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications in loss prevention or asset protection are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or coursework in criminal justice, security, or a related area is beneficial.
