Overview
We’re looking for a CCTV / Security Systems Engineer with strong hands-on experience delivering IP CCTV, intrusion/alarms, and associated network/structured cabling in professional (B2B) environments. This is a field-based role covering installation, configuration, commissioning, testing, fault-finding, and documentation—ideally with exposure to construction environments such as solar farms and utility-scale sites.
The Company
Our client is an ICP (Independent Connections Provider) based in the West Midlands, supporting renewable energy assets. They operate as a subcontractor on utility-scale solar projects, working across build and completion phases alongside construction and electrical teams. The business has been operating for around 2.5 years and is growing quickly due to a strong pipeline of renewables work.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission IP CCTV systems (cameras, NVRs/VMS, PoE switching, recording/storage, remote access where applicable)
- Carry out testing, validation, and acceptance testing to ensure reliable performance and clean handover
- Install and test structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6) and support fiber optic deployment where required (termination/testing/fault finding depending on experience)
- Diagnose and resolve faults across CCTV, power/PoE, network connectivity, cabling, and field devices; apply strong root-cause troubleshooting
- Support integrated security deployments including intrusion/alarms and (where required) fire detection interfaces on multi-system sites
- Work safely on active construction/infrastructure sites (including solar farm environments), coordinating with electricians, civils, and site management
- Produce clear site documentation: commissioning sheets, test results, as-built notes, handover packs, service reports
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven hands-on experience installing and commissioning CCTV/security systems in B2B environments
- Strong practical knowledge of IP CCTV and the basics that make it work on site (PoE, switching fundamentals, bandwidth awareness, stable recording)
- Good understanding of structured cabling best practice and testing/fault finding
- Confident on-site in construction/infrastructure settings; renewables/solar farm exposure is a strong advantage
- Ability to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, and network layouts
- Strong attention to detail and a “right-first-time” quality mindset
- Clear communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple trades
Nice To Have
- Experience on utility-scale renewables sites, substations, or similar infrastructure projects
- Working knowledge of networking concepts relevant to CCTV (IP addressing, VLAN concepts, PoE budgets)
- Vendor training/certs (CCTV/VMS, fiber testing, structured cabling, fire/security systems)
