DISP Security Officer

About This Role

Working to uplift and maintain security, you will apply your knowledge of DISP to physical and personnel security ensuring security of a defence-grade facility. You will be part of a major DISP uplift program in order to remain compliant with evolving defence requirements, as a result of a huge growth in footprint within Defence for our client. The bulk of this role will focus on physical and personnel security for the moment, but future growth opportunities lie in cyber and information security for this role.

You will work under the guidance of a senior CSO / security lead to deliver the smooth and consistent opersationf of frontline security administration activities.

About The Company

Our client is a large, Australian-owned technology and communications business with established and rapidly growing programs of work within defence. The organisation is approximately between 1,000 and 1,500 staff across work in government and in the private sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on DISP security administration, with a strong focus on personnel security and physical security controls.
  • Manage end-to-end security clearance administration, including sponsorship, onboarding, tracking, reviews, and aftercare processes.
  • Oversee personnel security lifecycle activities, including vetting coordination, briefings, debriefings, and ongoing suitability monitoring.
  • Support physical security operations, including access control systems, visitor management, secure area protocols, and controlled entry procedures.
  • Maintain accurate security registers and records, including personnel clearances, access permissions, facility logs, and incident documentation.
  • Coordinate security onboarding and offboarding activities, ensuring timely access provisioning and revocation across systems and secure areas.
  • Assist in the management of security incidents, including logging, initial triage, reporting, and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure compliance with secure facility requirements, including classified material handling, entry procedures, and physical security standards.
  • Support internal DISP audits, inspections, and compliance reviews by preparing documentation and evidence packs.
  • Deliver security briefings and awareness sessions, particularly relating to personnel obligations and physical security responsibilities.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and escalate issues to senior security personnel where required.

Skills And Experience Needed

  • Demonstrated experience in DISP environments with strong emphasis on personnel and physical security operations.
  • Strong understanding of security clearance processes, including sponsorship, vetting, and ongoing personnel suitability management.
  • Experience managing physical security controls, including access management, secure facilities, and visitor processes.
  • Working knowledge of the PSPF (Protective Security Policy Framework) and ISM (Information Security Manual).
  • High attention to detail with strong capability in security record-keeping and compliance documentation.
  • Proven ability to operate in a high-compliance, process-driven Defence environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across operational and leadership stakeholders.

  • Competitive salary package: $125,000 to $145,000 + superannuation

CLEARANCE

This position requires an active TSPV security clearance.
