About The Job
Williamson County Government is seeking an Emergency Management Officer II to join the Emergency Management Agency (EMA). This position develops and coordinates emergency management programs, plans, training, exercises, and preparedness initiatives supporting countywide preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts. The successful candidate will work with public safety agencies, community organizations, government partners, and the public while supporting emergency operations when needed.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, update, and evaluate emergency plans, procedures, protocols, and preparedness initiatives.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness drills and exercises and provide training and technical assistance to staff, volunteers, stakeholders, and community members.
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses involving potential hazards, critical infrastructure, key resources, and special events.
- Coordinate with local, state, federal, community, and private-sector partners to strengthen emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
- Manage assigned emergency management projects, programs, equipment, and resources, and support Emergency Operations Center activations, incident response, special events, and on-call operations as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or a related field preferred; or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant emergency services experience with knowledge of emergency management concepts and principles.
- Three (3) or more years of emergency services experience with direct knowledge of emergency management concepts preferred.
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license and insurability required.
- Required FEMA ICS and Professional Development Series certifications must be obtained within one (1) year of hire.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours and respond during emergency situations as required.
