Ministry Function:
The Regional Security Manager – Latin America/Caribbean (RSM-LAC) plays a vital role in advancing the
mission of Convoy of Hope (COH) by developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies that
ensure the safety of personnel, programs, and assets within the Latin America/Caribbean region and other
designated areas as required.
Required, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three years of relevant experience and/or training, or an
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience in security operations, crisis management, or a related field.
Fluency in English is required.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the region, including international travel as
necessary.
Experience working in volatile and high-risk environments.
Proper certification and licensing to carry a firearm within the country of residence, with regular
firearms training and adherence to the COH Use of Force policy.
Strong analytical skills to assess security situations and provide strategic guidance to
leadership.
Ability to navigate complex security challenges, balancing operational needs with risk
mitigation.
Excellent decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure and uncertain
environments.
Strong cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage
effectively across diverse socio-economic and political landscapes.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive security matters.
Proficiency in using PC or Mac systems and software applications, including Gmail, Word, and
Excel.
Attends and actively participates in COH meetings and activities as a required responsibility
to the organization and fellow team members.
Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial
and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core
values, to all outside constituencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and oversee security strategies that safeguard COH operations, ensuring
alignment with organizational goals and regional security requirements.
Provide expert security assessments and recommendations to the ISD, balancing operational
effectiveness with the long-term safety and sustainability of program and personnel.
Support multiple COH initiatives and affiliated ministries as directed by the ISD.
Collaborate with the Convoy Security Team to ensure strategic security initiatives are effectively
executed, while maintaining clear communication regarding regional security conditions, needs,
and concerns.
Regularly update and refine security policies and procedures for regional offices, warehouses,
and program sites, addressing areas that include emergency evacuations, travel restrictions,
security training, and physical security measures.
Monitor regional security developments, keeping team members informed of potential and
active threats, and adjusting security thresholds accordingly.
Establish and maintain a robust network of security contacts to facilitate real-time
intelligence gathering and operational support.
Continuously assess emerging threats and security challenges to ensure proactive risk
mitigation.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and objectives of Convoy of Hope.
