PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
The Group Mining Security Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security training programs across all mining sites. This role is to ensure that all security personnel are:
- well-trained and equipped to handle the security challenges
- following the appropriate training courses to be promoted to a new leadership position
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Training Program Development:
- Design and develop comprehensive security training programs tailored to the needs of the mining industry.
- Update training materials regularly to reflect the latest security trends, threats, and best practices.
Training Delivery:
- Conduct training sessions for security personnel at various mining sites, both in-person and virtually.
- Utilize various training methods, including classroom instruction, hands-on exercises, simulations, and e-learning.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, feedback, and performance metrics.
- Implement improvements based on assessment results and feedback from participants.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all training programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and industry standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant security regulations and standards.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Work closely with site security managers, human resources, and other departments to identify training needs and schedule training sessions.
- Coordinate with external training providers and industry experts as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of training activities, attendance, and certifications.
- Prepare regular reports on training program outcomes, compliance, and any incidents or issues.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about new security threats, technologies, and training methodology
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of security training programs.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in security management, Criminal Justice, Education, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in security management or training, preferably in the mining or industrial sector.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering security training programs.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols, risk management, and regulatory requirements in the mining industry.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel to various mining sites as required.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) are advantageous.
