TITLE: Security Guard

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Security and Safety

LOCATION: Maban Field Office

GRADE: 7

CONTRACT LENGTH:9 Months

Child Safeguarding

Level 1: the role holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about children or young people, as part of their work; therefore, a police check will not be mandatory unless the content or location of the role changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level will be reviewed.

Role Purpose

The security guard will be tasked with the responsibilities to provide safety and security to Compound buildings, staff, assets, other materials and international staff both in the office and residence.

Key Areas Of Accountability

  • To keep the gate locked at all times and only open and in and out SCI staff and authorized visitors only.
  • To alert SCI staff of visitors at the gate who wish to see them.
  • To keep a record of all visitors in SCI compound by registering the visitor’s names, their IDs and SCISS staff they want to see in the visitor’s registration book provided at the gate
  • To inspect all vehicles and ensure that goods carried are accompanied with waybill and or gate pass
  • To record mileage of SCI vehicles, motor bikes and name of the driver on the vehicle registration book provided at the gate
  • To put on and off the generator as instructed and to report the fuel levels of the generator on daily basis
  • To keep the compound clean by clearing vegetation and burning waste.
  • To assist on loading and offloading
  • To safeguard and secure SCI property, assets, equipment and staff in SCI compound.
  • Any other duties as assigned by your employer
  • To adhere to Save the Children Code of Conduct,
  • Any other activities or duties assigned to you by the administration/logistics assistant
  • To reduce the likelihood of an attack on the SC compound or personnel through physical deterrence
  • If a visitor arrives by vehicle ask them to park it away from the compound, or if there is access to the compound, conduct a thorough search of the vehicle as necessary (as detailed below);
  • Ensure that visitors are met by the person whom they are visiting, and are escorted within the compound by that person or another member of SC staff at all times;
  • When visitors depart ensure that their departure is logged in the visitor’s book;
  • Conduct patrols/day/night as instructed in the patrol protocol/instruction after every 1 hr;
  • Ensure that you check all fire extinguishers and other fire-fighting equipment;
  • Ensure that you know the fire-fighting procedure;
  • Ensure that you know how to operate the Generator(s);
  • Examine any packages or other deliveries arriving at the compound and look for suspicious signs (as detailed below);
  • Conduct patrols of the perimeter (internal and external), buildings and other areas as detailed in the patrol protocol (SSFP instructions);
  • Ensure your post is not left without having been properly relieved by your replacement or given permission by your supervisor;
  • Always brief your replacement about events on your shift;
  • Fill out your guard report; and sign out
  • Use your radio responsibility; Ensure that your equipment is in good working order both before you take over your post, and as you hand over to your replacement;
  • Ensure that you know where to find/how to contact supervisor and all at night so you can inform them of anything abnormal;
  • Ensure all rubbish is cleared away from the generator area and from the front/side/back of yours and the neighbour (s) compound (as applicable);

Essential

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Primary 8 or Secondary School Education.
  • Certificate in Security Management preferred.
  • At least 2 -3-years’ experience in a similar post preferably in the INGO/NNGO/Private Company.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Must not have criminal record .
  • Proficiency in Arabic, Dinka and English desirable
  • Ability to be diplomatic, whilst firm with visitors
