I’m currently partnered with a product-led technology company that’s quietly become one of the biggest digital success stories in Europe.
With tens of millions of users globally and a fully remote international engineering organisation, they’re entering a critical phase of maturity across platform security, cloud infrastructure, and compliance. They’re now looking for a hands-on Head of Security Engineering to help shape what the next chapter looks like.
You’ll operate as the senior technical security leader in the business, reporting directly into the CTO, owning security engineering strategy, architecture decisions, vendor/tooling direction, and leading a growing team, with a clear path toward a future CISO position.

🛠 What you’ll be responsible for:
• Defining and delivering the company-wide security engineering roadmap
• Leading and mentoring a high-performing security team
• Driving cloud and application security initiatives across AWS environments
• Improving incident response, detection engineering, and operational resilience
• Embedding secure-by-default practices into CI/CD and engineering workflows
• Translating frameworks such as ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2, and PCI-DSS into practical engineering controls
• Owning security tooling, vendor strategy, and budget decisions

✅ They’re looking for someone who has:
• Strong experience leading Security Engineering functions
• Deep AWS security and cloud architecture knowledge
• A background in application and platform security within SaaS environments
• Experience implementing secure development practices at scale
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence engineering and executive stakeholders alike
• A pragmatic mindset, someone who enables engineering rather than slowing it down
Nice to Have:
Detection engineering | MITRE ATT&CK / STRIDE | CISSP / CISM / AWS Security certifications | German language skills
