Compensation: $300-400k base + bonus
Location: Onsite, NYC
We are currently partnering with a crypto-native trading and technology firm specializing in quantitative strategies and DeFi infrastructure in search of a Head of Security. This is a hands-on leadership role with full ownership of the firm’s security function, focused on protecting digital assets, proprietary systems, and trading infrastructure in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
- Own and build the end-to-end security program across infrastructure, assets, and operations
- Define threat models tailored to crypto trading, DeFi integrations, and on-chain activity
- Secure wallet infrastructure, private key management, and custody operations (MPC, HSMs, etc.)
- Implement enterprise security controls (IAM, SSO, zero-trust, endpoint and SaaS security)
- Partner with engineering to embed security across the SDLC and trading systems
- Lead incident response, threat detection, and security operations
- Monitor and mitigate crypto-native threats (phishing, exploits, protocol risks)
- Establish security policies, procedures, and performance metrics
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in security leadership or senior security engineering roles
- Experience securing financial services, trading systems, or crypto environments
- Hands-on expertise with private key management, wallets, or digital asset custody
- Strong incident response and threat intelligence experience
- Technical background with scripting or coding for security tooling
- Experience working closely with engineering teams on secure system design
- Familiarity with smart contracts and DeFi ecosystems preferred
