Our client, a leader in financial services, is hiring an Information Security Engineer to join their team in Irving, TX!
**This is an 18-month W2 contract with benefits (contract-to-hire)**
As the Information Security Engineer, you will support the Security Logging & Controls function by ensuring critical enterprise systems are properly logging and sending security events to Splunk to meet regulatory requirements, while developing advanced SQL-based controls and partnering with cybersecurity teams to enable monitoring, detection, and response capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance security logging controls to ensure high-risk applications and assets are sending accurate events to Splunk
- Write advanced SQL queries that translate business and security requirements into enforceable controls
- Monitor logging pipelines for gaps, failures, and anomalies, integrating findings into ServiceNow workflows
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to support automated detection, monitoring, and incident response processes
- Take ownership of existing SQL logic and controls, improving and scaling them with a project-based approach
- Store, version, and manage code using GitHub and leverage GitHub Copilot for development efficiency
Desired Skills:
- 5+ years of Information Security Engineering or related experience
- Strong background in application development OR network engineering with scripting experience
- Advanced SQL skills with the ability to explain business logic and purpose behind queries
- Understanding of security logging concepts and enterprise monitoring frameworks
- Experience working in large, highly regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, etc.)
- Experience with GitHub and familiarity with GitHub Copilot
- Basic Python scripting, cybersecurity fundamentals, and familiarity with Splunk
