Description

This role is critical to safeguarding programme delivery, ensuring that security risks are identified, controlled, and resolved before they impact system integrity, availability, compliance, or operational acceptance.

In this role, you will act as the programme security authority for SSC’s IRIS² scope, owning and leading the overall security management approach across a complex, multi-partner ground segment environment.

You Will

  • Ensure that security requirements, controls, and governance are consistently implemented across engineering, operations, suppliers, and programme delivery.
  • Operate with end-to-end security authority within programme governance, including the authority to escalate, require corrective actions, and prevent progression where security risks or compliance gaps are not adequately addressed.
  • Balance delivery objectives with strict security and compliance requirements in a highly regulated environment, ensuring pragmatism without compromising integrity.
  • Operate at programme leadership level, engaging senior stakeholders across SSC, partners, and customer organisations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in security management within space, defence, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure programmes
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, information security, physical security, and risk management principles
  • Experience with contractual security requirements, audits, accreditation, and customer-facing governance
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, and suppliers
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including reporting and escalation
  • Structured approach to requirements management, compliance tracking, and documentation control

Highly Valuable

  • Experience in satellite communications, ground segment, or secure network infrastructure
  • Experience with EU institutional programmes or ESA environments
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes, classified environments, or sensitive systems
  • Experience coordinating supplier and subcontractor security compliance

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the overall security management framework across the IRIS² ground segment scope
  • Define and maintain security strategy, governance, and plans aligned with programme requirements
  • Ensure security requirements are identified, allocated, implemented, and verified across all lifecycle phases
  • Drive security risk management, including threat analysis, mitigation planning, residual risk reporting, and accreditation support
  • Lead and enforce security governance, including reviews, reporting, decision support, and escalation of issues
  • Drive alignment of security across engineering, operations, IVVQ, and supplier activities
  • Oversee and enforce supplier and subcontractor security compliance and assurance activities
  • Manage, track, and escalate security incidents, vulnerabilities, and non-conformities
