Role Overview
As IT Manager, you will oversee the organisation’s day-to-day IT operations, ensuring systems, devices, users, and security controls are managed effectively. You will take ownership of Microsoft Intune and Azure administration, troubleshoot technical issues, support the rollout of new initiatives, maintain IT inventory, and help strengthen the business’s cyber security posture, including Cyber Essentials compliance.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & User Support
- Manage the day-to-day IT operations across the business, ensuring systems and services run effectively.
- Provide hands-on support for hardware, software, network, and user-related issues.
- Act as the main escalation point for internal IT issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including device setup, account creation, and access permissions.
Microsoft Intune & Azure Administration
- Manage and maintain Microsoft Intune for device provisioning, compliance, endpoint security, and policy management.
- Administer the Azure portal, including user accounts, access controls, security settings, and directory services.
- Support the administration of Microsoft 365 and identity/access management tools.
- Monitor device and user compliance, ensuring policies are applied consistently across the business.
Cyber Security & Compliance
- Help maintain and improve the organisation’s cyber security controls and standards.
- Support the business in achieving and maintaining Cyber Essentials compliance.
- Assist with implementing security best practices, patching, endpoint protection, and access controls.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT security policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Promote cyber security awareness and good practice across the organisation.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Support the introduction of new technologies, systems, and IT-led business initiatives.
- Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, security, and user experience through technology.
- Assist with planning, testing, and implementing new systems, services, and process improvements.
- Work with internal stakeholders and third-party providers to deliver IT improvements effectively.
IT Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT hardware, software, licences, and equipment.
- Manage the lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, allocation, maintenance, and replacement.
- Ensure all asset records are up to date and equipment is tracked appropriately.
- Support supplier engagement and purchasing of IT equipment and services where required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in IT management, cybersecurity, compliance, and IT administration.
- Proven hands-on experience administering Microsoft Intune and Azure.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, device management, user administration, and access controls.
- Experience troubleshooting a broad range of IT issues across end-user devices, systems, and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of cyber security frameworks and standards, including Cyber Essentials.
- Experience managing IT hardware, software, licensing, and asset inventories.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications relevant to Azure, Intune, or Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience supporting cyber security audits, compliance exercises, or certification programmes.
- Knowledge of networking, endpoint security, and general infrastructure management.
