Riphah International University is seeking a dedicated IT Support Engineer to join its technology team. This role involves providing comprehensive technical assistance and support to ensure the optimal performance of the university's hardware, software, and network systems. The IT Support Engineer is responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, maintaining system security, and supporting users to achieve uninterrupted technology operations. This position requires excellent problem-solving capabilities, clear communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple support tasks efficiently. Collaborating with various departments and external vendors, the engineer plays a key role in maintaining a robust IT infrastructure that supports the university's academic and administrative functions.

The IT Support Engineer handles first and second-level support, installs and configures IT equipment and software, and maintains accurate documentation of all activities. Although this role does not include team management Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely first-level and second-level technical support to end-users, addressing hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer workstations, printers, network devices, and related software applications.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to hardware components, operating systems, network connectivity, and peripherals.
  • Manage user accounts including creation, modification, and deactivation in Active Directory, ensuring appropriate access permissions.
  • Respond promptly to IT support tickets using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, ensuring efficient issue resolution and proper documentation.
  • Maintain comprehensive IT documentation including support logs, system configurations, and incident reports for future reference and regulatory compliance.
  • Implement and uphold system security measures and data protection protocols in compliance with institutional policies.
  • Assist with the setup of new workstations and installation of software to support staff requirements and onboarding processes.
  • Work closely with vendors to coordinate hardware and software procurement, maintenance services, and warranty support.
  • Monitor and support LAN and WAN connectivity, troubleshoot network issues using diagnostic software, and maintain Cisco IOS environments.
  • Conduct hardware diagnostics and system monitoring to proactively identify potential failures or performance degradation.
  • Provide basic IT training and guidance to staff members to improve their proficiency with systems and software applications.
  • Utilize remote support tools such as TeamViewer, AnyDesk, and LogMeIn to resolve technical issues efficiently without direct physical access.
  • Perform regular system maintenance tasks including updates, patches, and backups to ensure system integrity and availability.
  • Carry out root cause analysis to resolve repeated or complex technical issues and implement long-term solutions.
