Job Summary
Overall Purpose:
The job holder shall ensure that both the employer and the employees comply with National Health & Safety legislations and that safety policies and practices are adhered to. The Manager shall be responsible for the review, approval and enforcement of all safety procedures, training and metrics reporting. The job holder shall also assist in the development and implementation of best practice procedures, develop and report key performance indicators and enforce all safety regulations are followed, design training programs and facilitate safety training for Bank’s employees.
Key Responsibilities
The job holder will be responsible for:
▪ Leadership & Compliance Oversight
▪ Supporting in the execution of regular risk assessments at BOV with the aim of reducing associated risks in line with the Bank policies and procedures
▪ Keeping up to date with current legislation, subsidiary legislation and latest health and safety standards particularly with issues related to the Banking practice
▪ Supporting the execution of the Bank’s health & safety strategy by implementing actions delegated
▪ Ensuring compliance with health & safety laws through day‑to‑day operational oversight
▪ Policy Development, Frameworks & Implementation
▪ Maintaining and updating internal health & safety policies and procedures
▪ Supporting the creation and review of health & safety documentation, as required
▪ Ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to throughout the organisation
▪ Operational Oversight & Workplace Safety Management
▪ Carrying out regular scheduled site inspections to verify adherence to health and safety policies, procedures and legislation
▪ Ensuring the safe installation of equipment and participating in on-site work to ensure proper health and safety standards are maintained
▪ Participating in all Bank public events to ensure adequate health and safety measures are appropriately taken on board
▪ Risk Management, Incident Response & Emergency Preparedness
▪ Recording incidents, accidents and near‑misses and producing statistics for management, in line with Bank requirements
▪ Keeping records of inspection findings and producing reports that suggest improvements
▪ Supporting investigations by providing information and participating in root cause review
▪ Training, Awareness & Safety Culture Building
▪ Planning and supporting the delivery of health & safety training and awareness activities in collaboration with Learning & Development and third party suppliers, where necessary
▪ Acting as point of reference and a subject matter expert in Health & Safety issues across the Bank
▪ Promoting safe practices by guiding employees and modelling compliant behaviour
▪ Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
▪ Keeping detailed records and preparing reports with trends, risks or improvement suggestions
▪ Monitoring adherence to safety requirements during on‑site works and public events
▪ Identifying opportunities for operational improvements and proposing enhancements to procedures or controls
▪ Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory Support
▪ Liaising with internal departments, contractors and external stakeholders during inspections, installations and safety‑related activities
▪ Supporting higher management by providing guidance to staff and stakeholders on health and safety matters
▪ Ensuring effective communication of health & safety requirements across relevant area
In addition to the specific functions, management may assign more duties as required for the job from time to time.
Knowledge:
• Corporate operations and processes – Intermediate
• Health and safety legislation and standards, specifically those relevant to banking operations – Intermediate
• Risk Management and/or Assessments – Advanced
Required Criteria:
Previous proven work experience of four (4) years in a health and safety-related environment or related area, a valid driving license – being able to drive both automatic and manual transmissions and part of the OHSA Competent Persons Register, andan MQF Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management or relatedfield.

Previous proven work experience of five (5) years in a health and safety-related environment or related area, a valid driving license – being able to drive both automatic and manual transmissions and part of the OHSA Competent Persons Register.
OR
Previous proven work experience of two (2) years in a health and safety-related environment or related area, a valid driving license – being able to drive both automatic and manual transmissions and part of the OHSA Competent Persons Register and an MQF Level 6 Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety Management or related field.
