Overview

An experienced CCIE-level Network Security Engineer / Architect is required to support the design and delivery of secure, scalable network infrastructure within a complex, 24/7 enterprise environment.

This role will act as the primary interface between Cyber Security and Network Operations, leading the delivery of network-focused security initiatives and architectural change. The successful candidate will provide third-level expertise, owning the design and implementation of secure network solutions from concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead for network-focused cyber security initiatives within a critical operational environment
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient network architectures aligned to industry best practice
  • Lead the delivery of network and security solutions across full project lifecycles
  • Develop network segmentation strategies aligned to zero-trust principles
  • Design and implement enterprise data centre networks, including ACI fabric (tenants, VRFs, bridge domains, EPGs)
  • Configure and manage next-generation firewall capabilities, including IPS, threat intelligence, and encrypted traffic visibility
  • Manage firewall lifecycle activities including upgrades, optimisation, and health monitoring
  • Design and optimise application delivery solutions, including load balancing and traffic management
  • Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies for critical services
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure performance, resilience, and secure data flows
  • Provide third-level support for complex network and security incidents
  • Monitor network and security performance to meet service level requirements
  • Maintain and enhance network services supporting internal and external business operations
  • Develop and test failover and resilience strategies across critical network components
  • Mentor and support junior team members
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation and support governance processes

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • CCIE certified (mandatory)
  • Extensive experience in network engineering and security architecture within enterprise environments
  • Strong expertise in:
  • TCP/IP networking
  • LAN, WAN, VPN technologies
  • Cisco networking and firewall technologies
  • Network protocols and topologies
  • Proven experience designing and implementing secure network architectures
  • Experience with data centre networking, including ACI
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat management and vulnerability assessment
  • Experience working within structured IT service environments (e.g. ITIL)
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable

  • Experience with Citrix NetScaler (application delivery, load balancing, WAF)
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Experience with automation tools such as Python, Ansible, or REST APIs
  • CISSP certification
  • Experience working in highly regulated or critical infrastructure environments
