Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse firewall configurations to identify and remediate non-compliant or overly permissive rules (e.g., wide port ranges, insecure protocols, broad network access).
- Design and implement secure, granular firewall policies aligned with enterprise security standards.
- Execute firewall rule changes using controlled workflows with zero disruption to business-critical applications.
- Support security audits by providing remediation evidence, documentation, and compliance reporting.
- Track and improve security compliance metrics across environments.
- Collaborate with application owners, infrastructure, and security teams to validate requirements and obtain change approvals.
- Contribute to automation and continuous improvement of firewall remediation processes and tools.
- Act as escalation point for complex network security and firewall issues.
Technical Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls (Juniper SRX, Fortinet, VMware NSX).
- Expertise in firewall rule analysis, design, and implementation.
- Strong networking knowledge (BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, VTP, BFD).
- Experience with IPS/IDS policy configuration and security event analysis.
- Exposure to logging and monitoring tools (Splunk, Elastic, SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Netscout, Accedian).
- Scripting/automation skills (Python, Ansible, JSON, etc.).
- Experience in low-level network security design in enterprise environments.
