Ensure safety and support at the Westshore RCMP Detachment as an On-Call Detention Guard. Monitor detainees and assist with security under the direction of RCMP Officers.
This role involves a strong commitment to safety and security at the Westshore RCMP Detachment. As a Detention Guard, you’ll be responsible for monitoring prisoner activities, maintaining cell block security, and assisting RCMP members when necessary. Your duties also include logging activities, handling laundry, and adhering to fire safety protocols, all while working a flexible schedule of days, evenings, and overnights.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor prisoners regularly using CCTV and in-person checks
• Organize meals and maintain activity logbooks
• Report damages and ensure cell cleanliness
• Oversee security of cellblock, locks, and keys
• Assist with medication dispensing under supervision
Requirements:
• Valid Occupational First Aid certification required
• Ability to obtain RCMP and Public Works Reliability Clearance
• Effective communication skills in English
• Physical capability to lift up to 20 kilograms
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training
