Job Description
The Church Security Department (CSD) is seeking a Security Supervisor to provide professional security coverage and response for Church properties and facilities for employees, Church leaders, visitors, and guests globally. Based in Port Moresby, this is a permanent full-time position reporting to the Assistant Area Security Manager.
The Security Supervisor promotes a safe and peaceful environment in which Church members and visitors can worship and participate in sacred ordinances. It requires leadership in dynamic and sometimes high‑risk situations.
Responsibilities
As Security Supervisor, you will lead and support security operations, ensure the safety of Church facilities, leaders, employees, and visitors. You will respond to emergencies, provide first aid, and manage incidents including disruptive or potentially life‑threatening situations. The role includes adherence to local laws and security policies, supervising, mentoring, and developing security personnel, implementing procedures, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. You will also conduct risk assessments, apply security practices, and ensure compliance with relevant laws, policies, and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- 4 years of security management experience (preferred) or equivalent combination of related experience). 3 years of related experience can substitute for 1 year of security experience
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in security or related environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to act decisively under pressure
- Experience in emergency response, including first aid, CPR, or AED (preferred)
- Ability to manage conflict, including handling disruptive or combative individuals appropriately
- Knowledge of security systems or demonstrated ability to learn technical systems
- Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment in complex situations
- Physical and mental fitness to perform operational security duties
- Flexibility to work shifts, respond to incidents, and operate in varied environments
- A proactive approach to risk management and safety practices (e.g., CPTED)
- Fluency in English (spoken and written preferred)
- Good vision
- Proof of legal right to work in Papua New Guinea
- A police background check may be required
