About The Role
As Principal Officer – Security Operations you will be part of the Safe City and Asset Protection team and responsible for ensuring the safety and security of council employees, guests and assets as well as council’s public safety and crime prevention initiatives. Your main focus will be on providing day to day leadership across the Safe City monitoring facility and corporate security operations, ensuring effective incident response, staff coordination and operational continuity.
You will have the opportunity to support and guide a group of skilled professionals, fostering collaboration and accountability while maintaining high service standards.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Support the management and maintenance of electronic security equipment
- Support the management and maintenance of fire safety planning frameworks
- Contribute to the development and implementation of operational procedures, reporting tools, and process improvements
- Provide strong leadership and operational support to your team
- Coordinate with contractors and key stakeholders responsible for delivering security services, fire safety maintenance, training, and related programs
- Support the coordination and planning of security operations, including control room functions, mobile and foot patrols, alarm response protocols, access control systems, and keying infrastructure
- Support the development and achievement of service plans and performance targets, project delivery and budget management
- Participate in an on-call roster to provide after-hours support for security and asset protection services as required

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications combined with demonstrated management experience and in building, managing and developing high performing teams
- Successful experience in security operations, safety or facilities management
- Demonstrated capability in project management – including budget and resource management
- Current Qld C class drivers’ licence
- Current Queensland Security Licence (Unarmed), or the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
- Current National Criminal History check clearance (If no current security licence is held)
- Fire Safety Advisor accreditation (desirable)

This is a permanent full time position with a salary commencing at $126,481 plus 12.5% superannuation.
