Responsibilities
- Provide security and protective services for patients, visitors, staff, and Alberta Health Services property, including violence monitoring, prevention and intervention.
- Enforce applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes.
- Conduct asset loss prevention and internal investigations.
- Prepare court documents and secure evidence.
- Perform risk assessment and hazard identification.
- Arrest, apprehend, and detain persons as necessary.
- Respond to critical events as a first responder.
- Support facility departments on security and safety practices.
- Participate in reviewing and recommending policy.
- Foster and maintain positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Required Qualifications
- Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General.
- Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program).
- Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver’s Licence.
- Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minutes, within 6 months prior to commencing employment.

Required Qualifications
- Alberta Class 5 operator’s license, or a provincial equivalent, with no more than four demerits and no charges or pending suspensions.
- You must be eligible for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum two years of related work experience or a related degree or diploma in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Psychology.
- Other related education may be considered.
- Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services.
- Community involvement or volunteering (unpaid positions).
- Knowledge of or training in harm reduction, anti-racism and Indigenous awareness.
- Comfortable and experienced with public speaking.
