Summary And Scope Of The Position

Under the General Manager, the Security Officer will monitor for theft, ensure a safe environment for staff and customers, and check-in dispensary customers. This role also involves safe transportation of cannabis products and shaping the company's public image.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Patrol and monitor interior and exterior premises as directed
  • Meet security goals, deadlines, and performance standards
  • Assess security and identify areas for improvement
  • Use checklists to prevent criminal activity and asset loss
  • Follow company policies and safety standards
  • Perform cleaning tasks and pick up trash
  • Escort personnel as needed
  • Assist in training new hires as needed
  • Maintain organization of the security station and entrance
  • Monitor surrounding property to prevent diversion and deter loitering
  • Prioritize safety on the road, obey traffic laws, and follow all company safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all safety regulations for transporting hazardous materials.
  • Perform routine checks on the vehicle before and after each trip.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly to ensure the vehicle remains in optimal condition.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date maintenance and usage logs for the vehicle, recording mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance activities, and any incidents or accidents.
  • Ensure all documentation, such as permits and licenses, is current and accessible during inspections.
  • Adhere to a strict schedule, delivering products on time and meeting delivery windows.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers to coordinate delivery times and any potential delays.
  • Safeguard cannabis products during transportation to prevent theft or tampering.
  • Follow security protocols to ensure the products always remain secure.
  • Stay informed about state and local cannabis regulations and transportation laws.
  • Comply with all applicable regulations and licensing requirements related to cannabis transportation.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED
  • A valid State issued Driver's License with clean driving record
  • Professional appearance, attitude, and interpersonal/social skills
  • Must complete the application and Cannabis Commission licensing process in a timely and professional manner.
  • Background check
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must successfully pass a drug test for all substances non-cannabis
  • Prior cannabis industry knowledge, education, or certification
  • Existing guard card
  • Understanding of state marijuana policies, laws, compliance, and regulations
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet applications
  • Ability to multitask, maintain teamwork, and resolve conflicts effectively
  • Candidates should have a military or law enforcement background or extensive security experience.

Physical Demands
