PT Saturday – Monday, 9:30am – 5:30pm and FT Sunday – Thursday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of the museum’s 175,000 sq. ft. facility. This role is key in maintaining a secure environment for the museum’s collections, properties, facilities, visitors, and staff, while also delivering exceptional customer service. The Security Officer works closely with the Chief of Security, Security Supervisor, and the Security Officer Leads to manage security operations.

DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visually, electronically, and audibly monitors a variety of assigned areas and grounds by working in various assignments including but not limited to roving inside the facilities and other appropriate locations.
  • Verbally de-escalate situations to ensure the safety of fellow employees and guests.
  • Assists in appropriately responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety and active shooter protocol.
  • Examines doors, windows, and other areas of the museum to determine they are secure.
  • Reports and records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, etc. in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators.
  • Notifies on-site individuals of visitors wishing to see them.
  • Routinely checks heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, fire systems to ensure they are operational.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Unarmed Security Officer Licensure from CLEET required.
  • 3+ years full-time professional security, law enforcement or military experience. Law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Must pass background check and regulatory screening requirements.
  • A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.
  • Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
  • Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
  • Must have high attention to detail, strong interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgment and decision-making, and ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by Company.

SUPERVISION: The Security Officer reports to the Chief of Security, Security Supervisor, and the Security Officer Lead(s).

GUIDELINES: The Security Officer must adhere to the policies and ethics of FAM at all times. The employee shall wear the Security uniform as per policy and seek assistance on any matters or questions not covered by this job description.

SERVICE: The Security Officer provides services to ensure the protection and safety of the 175,000 sq. ft. Museum, providing a safe and secure environment for the museum’s collections, properties, facilities, visitors, and staff while delivering superior customer service.
