Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Security Officer role based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by patrolling premises, monitoring access points, and handling visitor and contractor sign-in procedures. Daily tasks include observing CCTV, responding to alarms and incidents, completing accurate incident and shift reports, and following site-specific assignment instructions. The role involves providing visible security presence, offering professional customer service to clients and visitors, and liaising with the control room or management team as needed. The Security Officer will also support event security and stewarding when required, ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards, and participate in briefings and ongoing training.
Qualifications
- Possession of a valid SIA security license and strong knowledge of basic security procedures and legislation.
- Experience in access control, visitor management, and premises patrolling within commercial or public environments.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Ability to complete clear, accurate incident reports and follow written assignment instructions and company policies.
- Good situational awareness, risk assessment skills, and sound judgment when responding to incidents or emergencies.
- Reliable timekeeping, flexibility to work shifts (including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays), and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills for using security systems, email, and reporting tools; previous CCTV monitoring experience is an advantage.
- Prior security, facilities, or event stewarding experience is desirable; background checks and right to work in the UK required.
