The National Sports Authority (NSA) manages the 450-acre Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre, located in the heart of Nassau on New Providence Island in The Bahamas. Situated only 15 minutes from the airport and close to notable destinations like Cable Beach and Paradise Island, the facility serves as a hub for both local and international sporting activities. Sports tourism plays a significant role in the Bahamian economy, and the venue hosts renowned athletes and sports enthusiasts from around the world. The Sports Centre comprises multiple venues, including the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, Betty Kelly-Kenning National Aquatic Centre, and National Tennis Complex.
Role Description
The Security Officer is responsible for taking reasonable action to ensure the safety of employees, visiting personnel and company/customer assets. The Security Officer must maintain watch at company gates and access controlled points as well as admit or deny access as directed by company management or Security supervision. Additionally, the Security Officer will investigate or assist in investigations of security and/or emergency incidents and direct traffic. He/she should be highly observant and able to objectively assess the severity of a situation. An outstanding Security Officer should be able to remain calm and decisive in any situation
Main Task and Responsibilities
- Officer, patrol and monitor premises to prevent safety hazards, theft, violence or infractions of company policy
- Circulate among visitors, patrons and employees to preserve order and protect property
- Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows and gates
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences
- Monitor premises and report suspicious behavior.
- Investigate incidents and security breaches.
- Adhere to company policies and legal requirements.
- Communicate with Supervisor/Manager to ensure deliverables are met.
- Provide customer service in accordance with established standards and expectations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in security protocols, security operations and procedures
- Strong observational skills and the ability to identify potential security risks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with team members and visitors
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond swiftly to emergencies
- Physical fitness and the ability to handle extended periods of walking, standing, or patrolling
- Flexibility to work shifts
- Prior experience in security, safety, or law enforcement is an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional certifications in security or related fields are a plus.
- Working knowledge of public safety, security operations and procedures.
- Clean Police Record. Knowledge of local laws and regulations.
