About the Role

Vertical Scope Group is seeking Site Security Observers to support our client’s construction security activities across domestic and potential international project sites.

This role is focused on site-based security observation, monitoring and assurance across active construction environments. You will work as part of a multi-person operational team, supporting the application of approved construction security controls and helping ensure that personnel, materials, tools, equipment and site activities remain compliant with required security standards.

This is an on-site role suited to individuals with experience in security, construction, controlled environments, or operational site-based roles who can demonstrate strong discipline, situational awareness, judgement and reporting capability.

About you

You will bring:

  • Experience in security, construction, site operations, or controlled environments
  • Experience working as part of a dynamic, multi-person operational team
  • Strong observation, recording and reporting skills
  • The ability to work for extended periods with minimal supervision
  • Sound judgement, professional discipline and strong situational awareness
  • Familiarity with Work Health and Safety principles and active construction site risk management
  • The physical capability to stand for extended periods, move across active worksites, navigate uneven ground, climb stairs or ladders, and lift equipment up to 30 kg
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with client personnel, project teams and other stakeholders
  • The ability to operate or learn to operate CCTV, alarms, access control and other site-based security systems
  • Willingness to work in a range of weather conditions and active construction environments
  • Willingness to travel for domestic and potential overseas assignments, where required

Required licences and certifications

Prior to commencement, successful candidates will need to provide evidence of, or be willing to obtain:

  • Construction Induction Training — White Card
  • Working Safely at Heights
  • Working in Confined Spaces
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Prevent Crystalline Silica Exposure

Additional client-specific security, construction security and mandatory training will be required prior to deployment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Site Security Observer, you will be responsible for:

  • Observing personnel movements and activities within designated construction zones and controlled areas
  • Monitoring construction activities for compliance with approved construction security documentation and controls
  • Inspecting and auditing materials, tools and equipment brought onto site
  • Identifying, reporting and helping contain suspicious, unauthorised or non-compliant materials or activity
  • Supporting the operation of site-based technical security systems, including CCTV, alarms and access control mechanisms where required
  • Applying a risk-based and situational approach to identifying and escalating security concerns
  • Completing accurate security logs, records and reports to support assurance, auditability and continuous improvement
  • Operating within an established chain of command and escalating issues promptly and appropriately
  • Supporting a secure, compliant and professional site environment throughout the construction lifecycle
