Description:
SAIC's Government Solutions Group is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer II to support efforts with the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Enterprise Data Center Support Services (eDCSS). This position will be located in Springfield, Virginia.
This is a contingent position pending contract award.
The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is a key modernization system supporting the CBP Trade Compliance mission. ACE automates and consolidates border processing and is the centralized access point that connects CBP, the trade community, and other government agencies. The delivery of ACE capabilities enables CBP personnel and trade community users to electronically submit and retrieve trade data. ACE then provides CBP personnel with enhanced automated tools and information to decide – before a shipment reaches U.S. borders – what cargo to target and investigate because it poses a potential risk, and what cargo should be expedited because it complies with U.S. laws.
CBP’s Cargo Systems Program Office (CSPO) is responsible for the design, development, programming, testing, implementation, and maintenance of ACE. This currently includes engineering and management of the ACE application, as well as its underlying IT infrastructure environments.
In line with CBP’s evolving IT service delivery focus, CBP is planning and integrating ACE infrastructure environments within EDME’s enterprise IT services.
The Systems Engineer II translates data of information into hardware, software, and procedural recommendations. Perform the planning of uninterrupted transition to and staging of implementation to hardware/software procured by The Government. Develop and write position papers, planning guides, technical specifications, and user guides. Provide technical leadership and direction on extremely complex system throughput problems or crucial database software problems as required.

Basic Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree. In addition to educational requirement, a minimum of seven (7) years technical experience in a CA-DATACOM/DB environment with CICS as the telecommunications software. General ADP experience in an IBM or IBM compatible mainframe environment running an MVS operating system and CICS to handle telecommunications.
This position requires the ability to successfully pass a government background investigation as required by the contract prior to start.
