WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS : The VP, Security, Cloud & Trust is accountable for enterprise cyber security and cloud governance across a large, regulated, multi-line financial services organization. The role balances security leadership and cloud governance, setting strategy, standards, and risk appetite while ensuring consistent, high-quality execution through a vendor-led operating model. This executive owns the security and cloud trust outcomes of the enterprise—identity protection, risk governance, cloud guardrails, incident readiness, and resilience—while leading a small, high-impact internal team focused on oversight, architecture, assurance, and vendor accountability, not day-to-day operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Strategy, Architecture & Governance
•Define and maintain a multi‑year security and cloud governance roadmap with measurable risk‑reduction and maturity outcomes
•Establish enterprise security and cloud standards, reference architectures, and guardrails, especially for Azure, M365, SaaS, and hybrid environments
•Partner with Enterprise Architecture to ensure security and cloud governance are embedded in design and delivery
Risk Appetite & Decision Frameworks
•Define, document, and socialize the organization’s cyber and cloud risk appetite
•Lead risk‑based decisioning, including exception management and business-aligned trade‑offs
•Translate technical security concerns into clear business implications and recommendations for executives
MSP / MSSP (Cognizant) Governance.
•Establish and govern SOWs, RACI models, SLAs/KPIs, escalation paths, and QBRs
•Ensure vendor delivery meets expectations for:
•Detection and response
•Vulnerability and misconfiguration management
•Control evidence and audit readiness
Cloud Governance & Secure Enablement
•Establish and enforce cloud guardrails, baseline configurations, logging standards, and posture management
•Enable secure delivery through reusable standards, patterns, and guidance rather than gatekeeping
Security GRC & Privacy Alignment
•Own security governance: policies, standards, control oversight, risk acceptance, and assurance
•Partner closely with Legal and Privacy to ensure alignment with regulatory and data protection requirements
•Support audits, third‑party assessments, and executive/board‑level risk reporting
Resilience & Incident Response
•Own the enterprise cyber incident response framework and executive communications model
•Lead incident readiness exercises and ensure lessons learned translate into lasting improvements
Leadership & Influence
•Lead a small internal team (2–4 FTE) focused on architecture, governance, assurance, and vendor management
•Influence technology and business leaders across a federated model through credibility, clarity, and pragmatism
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
Education
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
•Preferred: Graduate degree (MBA, MSc) or equivalent enterprise-scale executive leadership experience
Certifications (preferred)
•CISSP, CISM, CRISC, and/or CCSP
Experience & Background
•10+ years in senior cyber security, cloud governance, risk, or technology leadership
•Executive experience in large enterprise environments (5,000+ employees preferred)
•Proven success managing vendor-led / outsourced security models (MSP/MSSP)
•Deep expertise in identity & access management, security governance and compliance, cloud security (Azure/M365), and incident response
•Strong ability to communicate complex risk to executive and board-level audiences
Preferred Experience
•Financial services, insurance, brokerage, or other regulated industries
•High-velocity M&A integration and federated operating models
•Microsoft-centric enterprise environments (Azure, Entra ID, M365 security)
