REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience supporting DoD cybersecurity programs and Air Force systems
  • Hands‑on experience with RMF / A&A activities and RMF artifact development
  • Strong understanding of DoD and USAF cybersecurity policies and compliance requirements Experience conducting risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and security impact analyses
  • Ability to review system changes (CRs, DRs, PRs, AF Form 1067s) and assess security impacts
  • Experience authoring and maintaining RMF documents (SSP, POA&M, risk assessments, security plans)
  • Familiarity with continuous monitoring, audits, inspections, and security testing
  • Knowledge of cryptographic principles and key management concepts
  • Experience participating in CCBs, working groups, and technical reviews DoD 8140/8570 compliance (Basic or Intermediate IAM 722 or Vulnerability Assessment Analyst 541)

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience supporting Air Force programs, NSA, DISA, or Air Force Audit Agency assessments
  • Experience with ITIPS / portfolio management reporting (FISMA, SISSU, Clinger‑Cohe)
  • Background in Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) or special cybersecurity taskers
  • Experience supporting penetration tests, cyber exercises, or war‑gaming events Familiarity with incident response, security event analysis, and evidence preservation
  • Experience with contingency planning and disaster recovery recommendations

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Cybersecurity Engineer supports Department of the Air Force and DoD systems by ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data. This role is responsible for RMF/A&A activities, security assessments, risk and vulnerability analysis, and ongoing cybersecurity compliance across the system lifecycle in accordance with DoD and Air Force cybersecurity policies. The engineer works closely with engineering, operations, and external assessment teams to evaluate security impacts, maintain RMF artifacts, support audits and testing, and ensure cybersecurity controls are properly implemented and maintained.
