Profectus is seeking Expressions of Interest from Technical Assurance Advisors to support anticipated opportunities across multiple Australian Government departments and the broader national security community. These roles are expected to provide independent technical advice, assurance findings, and recommendations to support APS-led assurance and decision making across complex programs and platforms. Opportunities are most likely to be Canberra-based, with potential requirements emerging across other locations nationally. We are interested in hearing from senior practitioners who can review technical designs, delivery health, and capability outcomes against government and industry standards, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent technical assurance reviews of programs, projects, and platform initiatives
- Review architectures, designs, and delivery artefacts against government and industry standards
- Identify technical risks, gaps, and dependencies, and provide pragmatic, evidence-based recommendations
- Support gate reviews, design authorities, and assurance forums in an advisory capacity
- Produce assurance findings, technical position papers, and review reports for senior government audiences
- Engage with delivery teams, capability sponsors, and program leadership to support APS-led decisions
- Maintain a current view of contemporary technology, security, and delivery practice
- Contribute to continuous improvement of assurance and review practices
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience providing technical assurance, design review, or independent advisory in complex enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of contemporary architecture, delivery, and engineering practices
- Experience producing high-quality written assurance findings, position papers, or review reports
- Working knowledge of government and industry standards (ISM, Essential Eight, NIST, ISO/IEC 27001)
- Experience working within Australian Government or other regulated environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with senior government audiences
Desirable Experience
- Prior technical assurance experience within classified Australian Government environments
- Background as an Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, or senior engineering lead prior to assurance work
- Experience supporting capability programs through gate reviews and design assurance
- Familiarity with project assurance frameworks (e.g. P3M3, MSP, Praxis)
- Exposure to technical, schedule, cost, and benefits assurance
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related disciplines
Certifications (Highly Regarded)
- TOGAF 9 or TOGAF 10 Certified
- ITIL 4 Foundation (Managing Professional or Strategic Leader highly regarded)
- PRINCE2 Practitioner or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)
- Microsoft Azure or AWS architecture certifications
- ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
Security Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Must have the ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance
- Existing NV1 or NV2 clearance is highly regarded
Working Arrangements
- Predominantly Canberra-based roles within secure Australian Government environments
- Onsite work is expected for most opportunities, including engagement on classified networks
